A Tribute to Noble Bahrain
It is in times of crisis when nobility is displayed. When his fishing boat capsized, resulting in the death of three of his fishermen, Bahraini Ghazi Mohammed Al Dossary did not leave any stones unturned in searching and rescuing his men. When it was finally proven that the fishermen died, Al Dossary took lead in seeing the bodies are repatriated. He even accompanied the first recovered body to India and went out of his way to help the bereaved family.
The words of Al Dossary send shivers down my spine because he single-handedly debunked the negative stereotype of Arab employers - scheming, heartless andabusive.
"I am going to Kerala to console the families of all the three workers, who I considered as my own family members. I will also try to provide financial assistance to the families within my capacity," Mr Al Dossary told the GDN in an interview.
Al Dossary's good deed should not be allowed to pass just like that. Its significance must not be undermined. He also reminded me of another anonymous Bahraini who donated 1000BD to a stranded Filipino worker. This anonymous donor said, "as much as there are Bahrainis who mistreat their workers, there are also those Bahrainis who care about other people."
Indeed, despite the bad press, Arabs - specifically some Bahraini - employers are getting, there people like the anonymous donor and Al Dossary who certainly makes our world a better place to live.
In my little way, I write this short note as a tribute to the nobility of these Bahrainis. I have been in Bahrain for only a little over a year but I surely am proud to have witnessed the genuine nobility of the people of Bahrain. With the examples of the anonymous donor and Ghazi Mohammed Al Dossary, I offer this tribute to noble Bahrain.
Shukran jazilan, accuy!
