Meandering Shawarma

We are all nomads, bedouins and gypsies --- always on our feet in quest for glory, fortune, love, happiness and fulfillment. I am Filipino yet the best part of my life has been spent in the vast deserts of the Middle East. My culture clashed with a lot of things. Sometimes, I see a different person in the mirror. I am a shawarma. I am a meandering shawarma. My quest is to be home soon. How soon? Only this blog will eventually tell.

I have a love.

Today is Good Friday. I missed the "7 Last Words" service at the National Evangelical Church although I was at the Tennebrae service last night though.

However, everything is very normal and ordinary here in Bahrain. The spirit of the Lent can only be felt in the churches and in homes of practicing Christians. But, I have no qualms. Bahrain is an Islamic kingdom. I am already thankful that Bahrain is a cradle of toleration in the Middle East and non-Muslims are respected and are allowed to practice and profess their faith.

Anyway, I will definitely be talking about Christian love in another blog but this time it is about the great partner God has given me. I have have been praying that she is the one God has promised to grow old with me. I have been sending her love letters online for weeks now. And I love doing that. There are other means of communicating with her but all of them are non-functional at the moment.

This love of mine is a very sweet creature. No, she is a perfect woman. She has not only brighten my life with her presence but she has provided me an anchor to keep steady in our tumultous lives. She is now part of the journey of this meandering shawarma.

She is Jennifer Capati. And I love her very much. Unconditionally.
